Wireless Ghana

Hi all,
When I chanced upon this site and as a fact, the organization or group. I thought my prayers has been answered as its wireless networking and connectivity in general had been my passion.But this group only seems to exit in cyber space. Information on who are the members, places of meetings and others dose not appear on the site.

For example, I belong to Linux Accra User Group,
We meet on Saturdays 1pm at Kofi Annan center in IT - Accra.
Meaning, apart from the group exiting in cyber-space, it physically exit and anyone can just walk in to our meetings and meet members of the group.

Below is a list of current and ongoing community wireless projects in and around Ghana. If you have a project please list it here, along with any links to more information about it.

Projects:

+ TIER: UC Berkeley initiative to connect university libraries and more.

+ Akwapim Community Wireless Network: Pilot project of Wireless Ghana.

+ Twifo Connect: Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyra District Assembly was the first rural District in Ghana to get a sattelite link to the internet and operate a public internet café in 2002 as a pilot for a regional ICT project.

Hello - I am an architect in upstate New York who is interested in learning about the complexities of connecting rural communities in Ghana to the internet. For example broadband vs wireless. Cost and capabilities, etc. Any thoughts?

How can wireless be a partnership with Youth Employment ICT Training programme.

If some one know The Chief Director of
Ministry of Manpower and Youth Employment.

I have sent the partnership letter to them but l haven't get reply yet.

Today the project got posted on the frontpages of muniwireless.com and cuwireless.net because of our efforts to put VoIP onto the flagship network here in Akwapim. Sabra Asante of the Linux Accra User Group brought up a good question. How can Ghanaian businesses benefit from community wireless networks with Internet access and intranet services, like VoIP?

Does anybody know of any official legislation governing ICT practives in Ghana?
